REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

CAUTION:

  • Do not disconnect any part of the fuel system until you have discharged the fuel system pressure.
  • After discharging the fuel pressure, place a cloth or equivalent over fittings as you separate them to reduce the risk of fuel spray on yourself or in the engine compartment.

(a) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia) .

(b) Disconnect the 2 fuel pump ECU connectors.

(c) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(d) Start the engine. After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the ignition switch off.

HINT:

DTC P0171/0174 (system too lean) may be set.

(e) Crank the engine again, and then check that the engine does not start.

(f) Loosen the fuel tank cap, and then discharge the pressure in the fuel tank completely.

(g) Connect the 2 fuel pump ECU connectors.

2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER 3UR-FE INTAKE / EXHAUST: INTAKE MANIFOLD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 3UR-FE INTAKE / EXHAUST: INTAKE MANIFOLD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

4. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the No. 2 fuel tube from the fuel pressure regulator 3UR-FE FUEL: FUEL SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

5. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the fuel tube from the fuel delivery pipe 3UR-FE FUEL: FUEL SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

(b) Disconnect the fuel tube from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe 3UR-FE FUEL: FUEL SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

6. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the No. 1 fuel pipe from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe 3UR-FE FUEL: FUEL SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

7. DISCONNECT NO. 3 VENTILATION HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 3 ventilation hose and No. 6 wire harness connector.

8. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the No. 1 engine cover.

9. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe.

NOTICE:

When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

(b) Remove the 2 spacers and 4 insulators from the intake manifold.

10. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE COVER

(a) Remove the No. 3 engine cover.

11. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the No. 7 wire harness connector.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe.

NOTICE:

When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

(c) Remove the 2 spacers and 4 insulators from the intake manifold.

12. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the fuel injector from the fuel delivery pipe, and then disconnect the injector connector.

NOTICE:

For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

(b) Remove the O-ring from the fuel injector.
